Prediction market odds often differ from traditional sportsbook odds because they reflect a broader range of information and incentives. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while prediction markets are driven by individuals betting their own capital. This can lead to more accurate predictions, as market participants are incentivized to find and act on any informational edge. While sportsbooks may initially influence this market, the collective intelligence of traders on Polymarket and Kalshi can often lead to odds that diverge from those offered elsewhere.
