Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance their risk and ensure profit, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a particular outcome, they may drive the price on Polymarket in that direction. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying interpretations of the teams' strengths. It's common to see prediction markets outperform traditional odds, especially when complex factors are at play.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective expectation. Currently, the most favored outcome on Polymarket has a probability of 100.0%, based on the current share price. This dynamic pricing allows for a constantly updated assessment of the match's potential results.
