Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the differing incentives and information sources. Sportsbooks set odds to maximize profit, incorporating a margin for themselves, while prediction markets are driven by traders who aim to accurately forecast the outcome. This can lead to prediction markets being more efficient at reflecting true probabilities, especially as the event approaches and more information is incorporated. However, sportsbook odds can be influenced by factors like public betting patterns and liability management, which may not be as prominent in this market.
