Sportsbooks primarily aim to balance their books and profit from margins, while prediction markets allow participants to freely express their beliefs and profit from accurate forecasts. This market benefits from the collective intelligence of a diverse group of traders, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities, especially as new information emerges. Sportsbooks may also be influenced by public betting patterns, whereas this market is driven by informed individual analysis. The difference can be significant, offering opportunities for arbitrage.
