Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets allow traders to directly assess probabilities. While sportsbooks may initially set lines based on expert analysis, this market allows for collective intelligence to influence pricing. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions, risk assessments, and the influence of late-breaking news, offering potential arbitrage opportunities for informed traders.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd. The current volume traded in this market is $0, indicating the level of interest and activity surrounding the Celtics-76ers matchup.
This market resolves around Nov 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Celtics-76ers game, as reported by official league sources. The final score and winner will determine which outcome is considered correct for settlement purposes. Traders who correctly predicted the outcome will be entitled to a payout based on the final share price at the time of resolution.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in team lineups, or coaching strategies could significantly shift trader sentiment. Unexpected performance in prior games, or even significant media coverage impacting public perception, could also play a role. Major upsets in other relevant games, or even weather conditions potentially affecting player performance, could all contribute to movement in this market as traders react to new information and adjust their predictions.
