Sportsbooks, while employing sophisticated models, are ultimately set by a smaller number of professionals. This can lead to differences, especially when public sentiment strongly diverges from expert opinion. Prices on Polymarket and Predict can diverge due to several factors. Each platform has its own user base, trading dynamics, and risk appetite. Polymarket and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Different platforms may also have varying levels of liquidity, which can impact price discovery.
