Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a particular outcome, the odds on Polymarket may shift accordingly. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbooks, especially when there is strong public sentiment or information asymmetry. However, discrepancies can occur due to differing risk appetites and market participants.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in CD Tolima scoring first, for example, the price of those shares will increase, reflecting a higher perceived chance of that event. Conversely, if traders sell shares, the price decreases. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds continuously adjust to incorporate new information and trader sentiment.

This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on determining which team, if any, scores the first goal in the CD Tolima versus Boyacá Chicó FC match. Official match records will be used to verify the outcome. The market will then settle, and traders will receive payouts based on the final result and their holdings in each outcome’s shares. The resolution process is designed to be transparent and based on objective data.

Several factors could influence the price action in this market. Any news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either CD Tolima or Boyacá Chicó FC could significantly shift the odds. Changes in team form, such as a recent winning or losing streak, would also be closely watched by traders. Unexpected weather conditions on match day could also play a role, potentially favoring one team’s playing style over the other. Finally, any pre-match analysis from reputable sports analysts or unexpected lineup announcements could trigger movement in this market.
