Prediction market odds often reflect a different kind of wisdom than sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the aggregate belief of informed traders willing to put their capital at risk. If there's a significant difference, it could indicate that prediction market participants have access to information or analytical approaches that sportsbooks haven’t fully considered. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before major events or when new information emerges, as this market can react more quickly to changing perceptions.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the probability of that score occurring, as determined by supply and demand. As more traders believe a particular score is likely, the price of its corresponding shares will increase, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price movements are driven by the collective intelligence and risk appetite of the participants on Polymarket.
