Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set their lines based on internal models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If a significant number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook has mispriced the event, you might see the prediction market odds diverge. It's important to remember that both represent probabilities, but they are derived through different mechanisms and may attract different types of participants. Analyzing the difference can be a useful exercise for informed forecasting.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. As more shares are traded, the price of each share adjusts to reflect the collective sentiment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a 'yes' share (CD Real Tomayapo winning the second half) will increase if more traders believe they will win, and decrease if they believe they will lose or draw. The platform’s interface displays the implied probability based on these share prices, offering a dynamic assessment of the potential result.

This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result will be determined by the official result of the second half of the CD Real Tomayapo vs. CD San José match. The platform will rely on official sources to verify the winning team or if the second half concludes in a draw. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final outcome and their positions in this market. The resolution process aims to be transparent and based on publicly available data.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before Oct 17, 2026. Any news regarding team injuries, suspensions, or changes in coaching staff could significantly impact trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day might also play a role, potentially affecting the style of play and the likelihood of certain outcomes. Additionally, real-time updates during the first half of the match – such as red cards or early goals – could cause rapid shifts in the market as traders react to the evolving situation. Monitoring these signals can provide valuable insights into potential market movements.
