Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market’s prices are driven by traders directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both platforms. However, it’s important to remember that prediction market odds are dynamic and can shift rapidly based on new information and trading activity.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact score outcomes. The price of each share reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the latest information and sentiment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Price movements are influenced by factors like team news, injuries, and overall betting trends, all of which are factored into traders’ decisions when buying or selling shares in this market.
