Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of forecasters, which can differ from sportsbook odds that are set by professional oddsmakers. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like public betting patterns and profit margins into their odds, while this market relies on individuals directly expressing their beliefs about the most likely outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying interpretations of the same data. It's common to see prediction markets move independently of sportsbook lines, especially as new information becomes available.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the evolving consensus. The market's liquidity, indicated by the trading volume, influences how easily traders can enter and exit positions, impacting price discovery. Currently, the market indicates a strong belief in one outcome.

This market resolves around Oct 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team wins the second half of the Guatemalan football match. The official result, as reported by a trusted sports data source, will be used to determine the winning outcome. Traders who hold shares in the correct outcome will be entitled to a payout, while those holding shares in the losing outcome will forfeit their investment. It’s important to monitor the event closely as the resolution date approaches.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding team form, injuries to key players, or changes in coaching staff could shift expectations. Unexpected weather conditions on match day might also play a role, potentially favoring one team over another. Furthermore, in-game events during the first half, such as early goals or red cards, could significantly alter the perceived probabilities. Public sentiment and any late-breaking analysis from football experts could also contribute to price movements in this market.
