Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk assessment, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. It’s common to see discrepancies between the two, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Comparing the probabilities offered by Polymarket to those found at major sportsbooks can reveal where the market anticipates a different result than professional oddsmakers.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated and responsive to changing conditions surrounding the Catania tennis match.
