Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can often differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to profit by balancing action on both sides, while this market is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. If prediction market odds significantly diverge from sportsbook lines, it may suggest that the market believes the sportsbook has mispriced the event, or that new information hasn't yet been fully incorporated into the sportsbook's odds. It's a useful comparison point for informed decision-making.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket.
