This market focuses on determining which team will score more points in a specific quarter of an upcoming college football game. It provides a way to speculate on short-term performance during the contest, rather than the overall result.
The market resolves based on which team scores more points during the third quarter of the California vs UNLV college football game scheduled for October 3, 2026. If California scores more points in that quarter, the California market resolves to Yes. If UNLV scores more points, the UNLV market resolves to Yes. If both teams score the same number of points, the Tie market resolves to Yes. For all markets, only points scored during the third quarter count toward resolution. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Generally, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often converging towards probabilities that differ from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their risk and ensure profit, incorporating a margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals trading based on their own analysis and information. While initial sportsbook odds might favor one team, the prediction market can adjust rapidly as new information becomes available or as traders identify perceived mispricings. It’s common to see prediction markets offer more accurate forecasts, especially closer to the event.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome. The price of a contract reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy contracts for a particular team, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived chance of victory. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market depth and trading volume influence how quickly prices adjust to new information or changing sentiment. Currently, the most actively traded outcome is the one with the highest volume.
This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the official result of which team – California or UNLV – has the higher score at the end of the 3rd quarter will determine the winning contract. In the event of a tie, the 'tie' contract will be considered the winner. The resolution will be based on the official game statistics as reported by a trusted sports data source, ensuring a transparent and verifiable outcome for all traders in this market.
Several factors could significantly influence the trading activity in this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either California or UNLV would likely cause a shift in probabilities. Changes in team performance during the first half of the game, or even pre-game reports on team strategy, could also drive trading volume and price adjustments. Unexpected weather conditions, if they impact the game, could also be a catalyst. Furthermore, large volume trades from informed participants could quickly move the market, reflecting their assessment of the evolving situation.
