These markets track how many points are scored in the final quarter of a college football game between California and SMU. Each market has a different threshold for the total points scored by both teams combined during that period. The outcome depends solely on whether the actual points exceed the specified threshold.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams in the 4th quarter (excluding overtime) of the California vs SMU college football game scheduled for October 24, 2026. A 'Yes' outcome occurs when the combined score exceeds the specified threshold for each market (ranging from 2.5 to 27.5 points). If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored during regulation 4th quarter play count; overtime points are excluded. Kalshi disclaims any affiliation with the NCAA, and all team trademarks remain property of their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance their action and incorporate a profit margin, whereas this market is driven by individuals willing to buy or sell contracts based on their own assessments. If a significant number of traders believe the sportsbook odds are inaccurate, the price in this market will move accordingly, potentially offering a different value than what’s available at traditional sportsbooks. It’s a way to see where public sentiment diverges from professional oddsmakers.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book, meaning buyers and sellers set the price by placing bids and asks. The current price represents the cost to buy a contract that pays out $1 if the total points scored in the 4th quarter fall within a certain range, and $0 otherwise. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price fluctuates based on supply and demand, with more buying pressure increasing the price and more selling pressure decreasing it. Traders are constantly updating their predictions, which drives the price movement.
This market resolves around Oct 24, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final score of the California vs SMU game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The total points scored in the 4th quarter will be the determining factor, and that information will be sourced from official game statistics. The platform will then determine payouts based on whether the actual total falls within the ranges represented by the contracts traded in this market. The resolution process is designed to be transparent and based on publicly available data.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either California or SMU would likely cause movement, as would significant changes in weather forecasts that could affect scoring. Game day developments, such as early scoring drives or defensive adjustments, will also have an impact. Furthermore, large volume trades from informed individuals or groups could shift the price, reflecting new information or a change in overall sentiment about the likely outcome of the 4th quarter.
