This event tracks the total points scored by both teams during the second quarter of a college football game. Participants predict whether the combined score will exceed specific thresholds. The outcome depends solely on the official game result and timing of any postponements.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams specifically during the second quarter of the California vs NC State college football game scheduled for October 31, 2026. Each market has a different threshold: 2.5, 5.5, 7.5, 10.5, 12.5, 13.5, 16.5, 19.5, 20.5, 23.5, or 27.5 points. If the combined score exceeds the respective threshold for a given market, it resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. Postponements are handled such that if the game starts within 48 hours of the original time, it remains active and resolves based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored in the second quarter count, and Kalshi disclaims any official affiliation with the NCAA.
Generally, prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds based on models and internal analysis, while this market represents the collective beliefs of individuals trading contracts. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially early in the market, as prediction markets can react quickly to new information or shifts in sentiment. However, as the event approaches, the odds on Kalshi and sportsbook lines may converge, reflecting a shared understanding of the likely outcome.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the 2nd quarter total points. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. For example, a contract priced at 60 means traders believe there is a 60% chance the 2nd quarter total will be over 7.5 points. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts as more traders participate, providing a real-time assessment of expectations for the game’s 2nd quarter.
This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official score of the California vs NC State 2nd quarter is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the total points scored by both teams during the 2nd quarter of the game, as recorded by official game statistics. No further action is required from traders after the game concludes; the platform will automatically settle contracts based on the verified final score.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either California or NC State would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to impact scoring, could also affect trading activity. Furthermore, as the game approaches, any updated analysis from sports analysts or shifts in public perception regarding the teams’ performance could drive changes in the market price. Unexpected pre-game announcements, such as changes to starting lineups, could also lead to volatility.
