This market focuses on predicting the outcome of the first quarter in a college football game between California and NC State. Traders assess whether one team will establish an early lead by a specific margin, reflecting initial momentum and strategic advantages.
All markets resolve based solely on points scored during the first quarter of the California vs NC State college football game scheduled for October 31, 2026. Each market has a specific point differential threshold, ranging from over 2.5 to over 10.5 points, for either California or NC State to win by. If NC State meets or exceeds the specified margin in their favor during the first quarter, the corresponding 'NC State wins by over X points' market resolves to Yes. Conversely, if California achieves the required margin in their favor, the relevant 'California wins by over X points' market resolves to Yes. If neither team meets their respective threshold, all markets resolve to No. Postponements are handled such that if the game commences within 48 hours of the original schedule time, markets remain open and resolve based on the actual first-quarter result. If the game does not start within this 48-hour window, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which may be influenced by factors like house biases or initial public perception. Sportsbooks typically set lines to balance betting action and ensure profit, while this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, analytical approaches, or simply the varying motivations of participants. It's common to see this market adjust rapidly to news and insights, potentially leading to odds movements that diverge from traditional sportsbooks.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, meaning traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes in the California vs NC State spread. The price of each contract reflects the market’s probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the prices converge to represent the collective forecast. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price is determined solely by supply and demand among traders on Kalshi, and is not influenced by external factors or pre-defined probabilities.
This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the actual first quarter spread of the California vs NC State game, as reported by official sources. Traders who correctly predicted the spread will receive a payout based on the final price of their contracts. It's important to monitor the event closely as the resolution date approaches to understand how the final result will be determined and verified.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Key injuries to star players on either the California or NC State teams would likely cause significant shifts in the odds.
