Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, being driven by the collective wisdom of traders, may reflect a more accurate assessment of probabilities, though discrepancies can occur due to differing information or risk appetites. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster to incorporate new information than sportsbooks, potentially offering opportunities for informed traders. Comparing the two can provide a more comprehensive view of the expected outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome.
