Generally, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, however, is driven purely by the collective predictions of traders, aiming to accurately reflect the true probability of each outcome. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust to new information and potentially outperform sportsbook accuracy as more traders participate and share their insights. It’s a fascinating comparison to observe.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adapt to the latest information and collective wisdom of the traders participating in this market for the Galan vs Varillas match.
