Prediction market odds, like those found on Kalshi and Opinion, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the wisdom of the crowd. Sportsbooks set lines based on models and internal analysis, while this market reflects the collective predictions of many individuals. This can lead to prediction markets being more accurate, especially when incorporating information not readily available to sportsbook analysts. Furthermore, prediction markets allow traders to continuously update their assessments as new information emerges, resulting in dynamic odds that may react faster to changes than those offered by sportsbooks. This market provides a compelling alternative for informed forecasting.
Kalshi and Opinion can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices on Kalshi and Opinion may diverge due to several factors, including differing user bases, trading volumes, and market mechanisms. Kalshi currently favors Frosinone wins at a probability of around 38.0%, while Opinion leans toward the same outcome. These differences can also arise from variations in how each platform handles order types and liquidity. Additionally, the specific incentives and risk appetites of traders on each platform can influence price discovery, leading to temporary discrepancies in the perceived probability of outcomes for the Cagliari vs Frosinone match.
