Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective that differs from traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market relies on the collective predictions of informed traders. If a significant discrepancy exists between the implied probability on Polymarket and sportsbook odds, it could indicate that traders possess information or insights not yet fully incorporated into the sportsbook lines. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities and are subject to change based on new information.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Cagliari or Juventus will score first in the first half. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of each outcome, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price will adjust accordingly, providing a dynamic assessment of the likely first goalscorer. The current price reflects the collective judgment of those trading on the platform.

This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by which team, Cagliari or Juventus, scores the first goal during the first half of the match. Any goals scored during stoppage time added to the first half will be included in determining the result. The market will settle based on official match data, ensuring a transparent and verifiable outcome.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Cagliari or Juventus would likely cause significant shifts in the odds. Changes in weather conditions, such as heavy rain or strong winds, could also impact expectations about the style of play and goal-scoring opportunities. Additionally, any pre-match analysis from reputable football analysts predicting a dominant performance from one team could sway trader sentiment and move the market accordingly. Team lineups released shortly before kickoff will also be a key catalyst.
