Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action, while this market allows participants to directly express their beliefs about the probability of each exact score. If a significant number of traders believe a particular outcome is more likely than implied by sportsbook odds, the price of that outcome will adjust accordingly. It's common to see prediction markets outperform traditional sportsbooks, especially as the event approaches and more information becomes available.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where participants buy and sell shares representing each possible exact score. The price of each share reflects the market's collective assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more trades occur, the price adjusts to find an equilibrium point where buyers and sellers are willing to transact. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated based on the latest information and sentiment.
