Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, and may be influenced by promotional considerations. This market, however, represents the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. While sportsbook odds may initially appear different, they can converge as the event approaches and more information becomes available. Discrepancies can highlight areas where the crowd believes there is value or where sportsbooks have mispriced the probability of a particular result.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect the collective assessment of the event. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movement is driven by supply and demand – if many traders believe Osasuna will score first, the shares representing that outcome will increase in price, and vice versa for Racing Club. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date predictions.

This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the second half of the Osasuna vs. Racing Club match. Any goals scored during extra time or a penalty shootout will not be considered. The result will be determined by official match data and verified against credible public sources, ensuring a transparent and accurate resolution process for all participants in this market.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Osasuna or Racing Club would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they favor one team's playing style, could also move the market. Furthermore, any pre-match analysis from reputable sports analysts predicting a strong performance from one team could sway trader sentiment. Finally, even significant shifts in public opinion, reflected in betting patterns, can contribute to price fluctuations before Oct 18, 2026.
