Prediction market odds, like those found for this market, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the nature of how they are determined. Sportsbooks set odds based on models and internal risk assessments, while prediction markets rely on the collective intelligence of a diverse group of traders. This can lead to prediction markets being more accurate, especially when information isn't widely available or is subject to bias. Furthermore, the incentive structure is different; prediction market participants are directly rewarded for accurate predictions, while sportsbooks profit from the spread.
Polymarket and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices for this market on Polymarket and Predict can diverge due to several factors. Each platform attracts a different user base with varying risk appetites and information sets. Trading volume also plays a role; higher volume on one platform can lead to more efficient price discovery. Furthermore, the specific mechanisms for setting odds differ between Polymarket and Predict, influencing how quickly and to what extent prices react to new information. These differences can result in temporary discrepancies in the perceived probabilities for the Osasuna vs. Athletic Club second half.
