Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while this market allows traders to directly assess the probability of an event. It's common to see discrepancies, as prediction markets can sometimes aggregate information more efficiently and are influenced by a wider range of participants. However, both aim to predict the same underlying outcome, and comparing them can offer valuable insights into public perception and potential value.

The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher perceived probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is entirely driven by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, and it fluctuates based on new information and changing sentiment.
