Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance their risk, incorporating a profit margin, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own analysis and information. If a significant number of people believe a particular outcome is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the odds on Polymarket will move accordingly. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before a lot of money has been traded on this market, as the crowd’s assessment evolves.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each exact score. As more shares are traded for a specific outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher perceived likelihood. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of all participants trading on Polymarket regarding the final score of the Huracán vs Tigre match.
