Revisions to officially declared final scores made after market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome. Sportsbooks set lines to balance their risk and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately forecast the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply varying levels of confidence in a particular result. It's common to see this market move independently of sportsbook lines, especially as new information becomes available or as the event draws closer.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the implied probability of that score occurring, as determined by supply and demand. As more traders believe a particular score is likely, its price increases, and vice versa.
