This set of markets tracks how many points BYU and UCF will score together in the third quarter of their college football game. Each market corresponds to a different threshold of points, determining whether the combined score exceeds that value.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams during the third quarter of the BYU vs UCF college football game scheduled for October 24, 2026. For each market, if the combined score exceeds the specified threshold (e.g., 2.5, 5.5, up to 27.5 points), the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. Only points scored during the third quarter count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain property of their respective owners.
Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbook odds are typically set by a small team of experts, while this market aggregates opinions from many participants. It's common to see discrepancies between the two, especially before significant events or breaking news. While sportsbooks may initially lean on statistical models, this market can quickly incorporate new information and adjust accordingly, potentially leading to more accurate predictions as the event approaches. Comparing the two can be a valuable exercise for informed decision-making.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, meaning buyers and sellers set the price based on their expectations. Traders place bids (buy orders) if they believe the total points scored in the 3rd quarter will be *higher* than the current market price, and asks (sell orders) if they believe it will be *lower*. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price fluctuates as these orders are filled, reflecting the evolving consensus of participants. The goal is to buy low and sell high, or vice versa, to profit from correctly predicting the outcome. This dynamic pricing mechanism aims to represent the probability of different outcomes.
This market resolves around Oct 24, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the total points scored in the 3rd quarter of the BYU vs UCF football game will be used to determine the winning contracts. The official game statistics, as reported by a reputable sports data provider, will serve as the source of truth. The market will settle to 100 if the actual total is greater than the market price, and to 0 if it is lower. All contracts will be settled based on this verifiable outcome.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either BYU or UCF would likely have a significant impact, as this could affect their offensive capabilities. Changes in weather conditions, such as heavy rain or strong winds, could also alter the expected scoring rate. Unexpected coaching decisions or in-game adjustments could shift the momentum and influence the total points scored. Furthermore, large trading volume from informed participants could signal a shift in sentiment and cause the market to move. Monitoring these signals can help you understand potential price fluctuations.
