Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on a variety of factors, including public perception and their own modeling. This market, however, reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, risk assessments, or simply varying opinions. If you find a significant difference between the odds here and those offered by a sportsbook, it could signal an opportunity for value betting, depending on your own analysis.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. As more shares are traded, the price of those shares adjusts, reflecting the current consensus view. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a 'yes' share, for example, represents the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated based on the latest information and trader sentiment. The current volume is unknown, but the price fluctuations indicate active trading.
