Frequently asked questions

Generally, prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks incorporate a profit margin into their odds, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the outcome. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both Polymarket and a sportsbook. However, it’s important to remember that prediction markets are forward-looking and can incorporate information not yet reflected in sportsbook lines, such as potential injuries or team morale.
