In the upcoming NHL game, scheduled for April 7 at 7:00PM ET:
If the Bruins win, the market will resolve to "Bruins".
If the Hurricanes win, the market will resolve to "Hurricanes".
If the game is postponed, this market will remain open until the game has been completed.
If the game is canceled entirely, with no make-up game, this market will resolve 50-50.
The result will be determined based on the final score including any overtime periods and shootouts. In the event of a shootout, one goal will be added to the winning team's score for the purpose of resolution.
Kalshi and Polymarket use different threshold interpretations for over/under markets. Kalshi resolves YES when the threshold is exceeded (e.g., over 4.5 means 5+ goals), while Polymarket resolves Over when the threshold is met or exceeded but uses a different phrasing convention that creates ambiguity in how thresholds map to actual goal totals.
Hero Tip:
The critical difference: Kalshi's 'over 4.5' resolves YES at 5+ goals, while Polymarket's 'O/U 4.5' resolves Over at 5+ goals. Both platforms align on the same outcome for matching thresholds, but Polymarket includes additional markets (Moneyline, Spread bets) that Kalshi does not offer. Verify the exact final goal total against each platform's threshold before settlement.
Critical Divergence Points:
Kalshi: Aligned with Polymarket on over/under goal thresholds: Kalshi offers 8 markets, all focused on total combined goals with thresholds at 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5, and 9.5. Each resolves YES if the combined goal total exceeds the stated threshold. Key quote: 'If over 4.5 total combined goals are scored in the Boston vs Carolina professional hockey game originally scheduled for Apr 7, 2026, then the market resolves to Yes.'
Polymarket: Aligned with Kalshi on over/under goal thresholds but offers broader market scope: Polymarket includes 5 over/under markets (4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, 11.5) plus 3 additional market types (Moneyline winner, Bruins spread -1.5, Hurricanes spread -1.5, Hurricanes spread -2.5). Over/under logic matches Kalshi. Key quote: 'This market will resolve to Over if the Bruins and Hurricanes combine to score 5 or more goals in this game' for the O/U 4.5 market.
