Typically, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook lines due to the influence of diverse opinions and information. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. Over time, prediction market prices often become more accurate as more information becomes available and traders refine their assessments. It’s common to see convergence, but discrepancies can persist due to differing incentives and information access.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of its corresponding shares will rise, and vice-versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective intelligence of those trading it, creating a probabilistic forecast for the Damm vs Tabur match.
