Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of forecasters, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically set odds to maximize profit, factoring in a margin for themselves, while this market relies on traders directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those seen here, it might indicate a disagreement about the true probability of a particular result. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, and neither is guaranteed to be accurate.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand among traders on Polymarket, making it a dynamic and responsive indicator of expectations for the Djere vs Travaglia match.
