Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from sportsbook odds, which are often set by analysts. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like public betting biases or promotional offers that don't necessarily reflect the true probability of an outcome. This market's probabilities represent what traders are willing to bet, providing a distinct perspective. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges, as prediction markets can adjust more quickly to changing perceptions than traditional bookmakers.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible exact score. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and its implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the collective assessment of all participants on Polymarket, and is driven by supply and demand for each exact score. The total volume traded provides an indication of interest in each outcome.
