This set of markets tracks the defensive performance of Ausar Thompson in a specific basketball game between Boston and Detroit. The outcome depends on how many combined steals and blocks Thompson achieves during the match. Different markets have varying thresholds for what counts as a successful outcome.
These markets resolve based on the combined number of steals and blocks recorded by Ausar Thompson in the Boston vs Detroit Pro Basketball game scheduled for October 20, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold (3+, 4+, or 5+ combined steals and blocks) that must be met for the market to resolve to 'Yes'. If Thompson is inactive or does not take the court, all markets settle to a fair price. If Thompson enters the game, resolution is based strictly on his recorded statistics. Postponements within 48 hours of the original start time do not affect market resolution, which will proceed based on the final official result. Cancellations or failures to start within 48 hours result in all markets resolving to a fair price. Kalshi explicitly disclaims any official affiliation with the governing league, and all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders, aims to represent the true probability of the event occurring. While sportsbooks may initially set lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, this market evolves in real-time as new information and opinions are factored in by participants. Discrepancies can arise due to differing assumptions and risk assessments between the two.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the outcome. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price adjusts accordingly, providing a dynamic assessment of the event's likelihood. The market operates on a 0 to 100 scale, where a price of 50 represents a 50% probability, and higher prices indicate a greater perceived chance of the outcome.
This market resolves around Oct 21, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final combined total of steals and blocks recorded in the official game statistics between the Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons will determine the result. The resolution will be based on data from official sources and will be publicly available following the completion of the game. Traders holding contracts on the winning side will be paid out according to the final market price at resolution.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Injury reports for key players on either the Celtics or the Pistons, particularly those known for their defensive prowess, could significantly shift expectations. Changes in team strategies or starting lineups, especially those impacting defensive schemes, would also be relevant. Unexpected news regarding player availability, such as illness or personal matters, could also cause fluctuations. Finally, any late-breaking analysis from sports analysts or experts predicting a change in game dynamics could impact trading activity and move the market.
