This market focuses on determining which team will score more points in the final quarter of a scheduled basketball game between Boston and Detroit. It provides a way to speculate on the momentum and performance of each team specifically in the last regulated segment of play, excluding any overtime periods.
The market resolves based on which team scores the most points during the 4th quarter (excluding overtime) of the Boston vs Detroit Pro Basketball game scheduled for October 20, 2026. If Boston scores more points in that quarter, its market resolves to Yes. If Detroit scores more points, its market resolves to Yes. If both teams score the same number of points, the Tie market resolves to Yes. Should the game be postponed but commence within 48 hours of the original start time, all markets remain open and resolve according to the official result. If the game is cancelled or fails to start within this 48-hour window, all markets resolve to a fair price. Points from overtime do not count toward any outcome.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action on both sides, while this market’s odds are driven purely by supply and demand. If a significant number of traders believe one outcome is more likely, the price will move accordingly, potentially diverging from sportsbook lines. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast outcomes, especially when incorporating information not fully reflected in traditional odds.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome – in this case, either Boston or Detroit winning the 4th quarter. The price of each contract reflects the market’s assessment of the probability of that outcome occurring. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust, providing a real-time estimate of expectations. The closer we get to the event, the more the price will converge towards the true probability, assuming efficient market behavior.
This market resolves around Oct 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The winner of the 4th quarter of the Boston vs Detroit game will determine the winning contract. The resolution will be based on official game results as reported by a trusted sports data provider. It’s important to note that the resolution process is independent and relies on publicly available information to ensure a fair and accurate outcome for all participants.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in team strategy, or even weather conditions could shift trader sentiment. Unexpected performance from key players during the game itself will also have a significant impact. Major upsets in other games that might affect team motivation or playoff positioning could also play a role. As the game approaches, even social media buzz and expert analysis can contribute to price fluctuations in this market.
