This market focuses on determining which team will win the second half of an upcoming professional basketball game between Boston and Detroit. The outcome depends solely on performance during the latter half of the match, excluding any points scored in the first half.
The market resolves based on which team scores more points in the second half (including any overtime periods) of the designated Boston vs. Detroit professional basketball game scheduled for October 20, 2026. If Boston has the higher second-half point total, its market resolves to Yes. If Detroit has the higher second-half point total, its market resolves to Yes. If both teams score an equal number of points in the second half (including overtime), the Tie market resolves to Yes. For all markets, if the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original scheduled time, the result will be determined based on the official final second-half score. If the game is canceled or fails to start within this 48-hour window, all markets resolve to a fair price. The markets are independent of any official league affiliation, and all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and attempt to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. As more information becomes available – such as injury reports or starting lineup announcements – both prediction market prices and sportsbook odds will adjust. However, prediction markets often become more accurate closer to the event, potentially offering a more refined probability assessment than traditional sportsbooks.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of either team winning the second half. The price of a contract ranges from 0 to 100, representing the implied probability of the 'yes' outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As traders exchange positions, the price fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting their collective assessment of the likely winner. Higher demand for a 'yes' contract will drive up its price, indicating increased confidence in that outcome.
This market resolves around Oct 20, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team has the higher score at the end of the second half of the Boston Celtics versus Detroit Pistons game. The official game results will serve as the basis for determining the winning side in this market. Traders will be able to see the final result reflected in their account balances on Kalshi following verification.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding player injuries to key players on either the Celtics or the Pistons would likely cause price movement. Changes in starting lineups, coaching decisions, or even pre-game reports about team morale could also influence trader sentiment. Unexpected news about the overall health or form of either team, or even significant shifts in public perception based on analyst predictions, could all contribute to volatility in this market up until the game's second half concludes.
