Sportsbooks set their lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. It's common to see differences emerge, particularly in situations where public perception deviates from expert opinion. These discrepancies can present opportunities for informed traders to find value, though it's important to remember that both approaches have their strengths and weaknesses.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to reflect the collective belief of the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s depth and volume influence how quickly prices react to new information, and larger volume generally indicates greater confidence in the predicted outcome. The current trading volume suggests considerable interest in this event.
