In the upcoming NHL game, scheduled for April 6 at 10:00PM ET:
If the Blackhawks win, the market will resolve to "Blackhawks".
If the Sharks win, the market will resolve to "Sharks".
If the game is postponed, this market will remain open until the game has been completed.
If the game is canceled entirely, with no make-up game, this market will resolve 50-50.
The result will be determined based on the final score including any overtime periods and shootouts. In the event of a shootout, one goal will be added to the winning team's score for the purpose of resolution.
Kalshi and Polymarket use different goal thresholds for their over/under markets. Kalshi offers markets at 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5, and 9.5 goals, while Polymarket offers markets at 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, and 7.5 goals. Additionally, Kalshi's thresholds resolve YES if the threshold is exceeded, whereas Polymarket's thresholds resolve Over if the combined score meets or exceeds the stated threshold plus one.
Hero Tip:
If you trade the same over/under line on both platforms, verify the exact threshold and resolution rule. For example, Kalshi's 4.5 market (YES if over 4.5 goals) differs from Polymarket's O/U 4.5 market (Over if 5 or more goals). Kalshi offers more granular market options at lower thresholds (2.5, 3.5), which Polymarket does not provide.
Critical Divergence Points:
Kalshi:
Distinct stance: Kalshi offers eight separate over/under markets at thresholds of 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.5, and 9.5 combined goals. Each market resolves YES if the combined total exceeds the stated threshold. For example, the 4.5 market resolves YES if over 4.5 goals are scored (i.e., 5 or more goals). Resolution includes overtime and shootouts, with no special adjustment for shootout goals.
Polymarket:
Distinct stance: Polymarket offers four separate over/under markets at thresholds of 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, and 7.5 combined goals. Each market resolves Over if the combined total meets or exceeds the threshold plus one. For example, the O/U 4.5 market resolves Over if 5 or more goals are scored. Polymarket also includes a moneyline market (Blackhawks vs. Sharks winner) and a spread market (Sharks -1.5). Resolution includes overtime and shootouts, with one goal added to the winning team's score in the event of a shootout.
