In the upcoming Big Bash League, Women cricket match between Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes, originally scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2026 at 3:10 AM ET (as of creation of the first market related to the event): This market refers to the combination of the pre-match coin toss and the final match result. The outcome corresponding to Sydney Sixers will be considered correct if Sydney Sixers is officially recorded as winning both the toss and the match. The outcome corresponding to Hobart Hurricanes will be considered correct if Hobart Hurricanes is officially recorded as winning both the toss and the match. In all other cases - including where the toss and match winners differ, or where no match winner is recorded - the market will resolve to "Draw". DLS/DRS adjustments, over-rate penalties, forfeit/walkover, Super Over, or any other on-field ruling that leads the competition to declare a match winner are treated as ordinary wins. If the match ends tied and the playing conditions provide an on-field tiebreak (e.g., Super Over), the tiebreak winner will be considered the match winner for this market. If the match ends tied with no tiebreak used or available, no team will be considered to have won the match and the market will resolve to "Draw". If this market's outcome was definitively determined under its rules by the listed resolution sources before abandonment, that outcome will stand. Otherwise, the following no-result provisions apply. If the match is canceled, does not start by Tuesday, November 3, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or is abandoned with no official result by that time, the market will resolve to "Draw". If the match is abandoned or otherwise completed without an official match winner being declared, the market will resolve to "Draw".

Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a ‘vig’ or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders, tends to more closely reflect the true perceived probability of each outcome. However, discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, risk appetites, and market biases. It's valuable to compare both to form a well-rounded assessment of the likely toss result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible outcome of the toss. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders believe Sydney Sixers will win the toss, the price of shares representing that outcome will increase, and vice-versa for the other possibilities. This dynamic pricing reflects the aggregated wisdom of the crowd.
This market resolves around Nov 8, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result of the coin toss – whether Sydney Sixers or Hobart Hurricanes win, or if the toss is a draw – will be sourced from official match reports and widely available sports news outlets. The market will then settle to reflect the actual toss winner, distributing payouts to traders who correctly predicted the outcome.
Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Any news regarding potential weather conditions at the match venue, which could impact the toss, might cause shifts in probabilities. Late-breaking team news, particularly if a key player is known to have a preference for batting first or second, could also affect trader sentiment. Finally, large volume trades from informed participants could signal new information or a change in market perception, leading to price fluctuations before the toss takes place.
