In the upcoming Big Bash League, Women cricket match between Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers, originally scheduled for Monday, November 2, 2026 at 3:10 AM ET (as of creation of the first market related to the event): This market refers to the combination of the pre-match coin toss and the final match result. The outcome corresponding to Melbourne Stars will be considered correct if Melbourne Stars is officially recorded as winning both the toss and the match. The outcome corresponding to Perth Scorchers will be considered correct if Perth Scorchers is officially recorded as winning both the toss and the match. In all other cases - including where the toss and match winners differ, or where no match winner is recorded - the market will resolve to "Draw". DLS/DRS adjustments, over-rate penalties, forfeit/walkover, Super Over, or any other on-field ruling that leads the competition to declare a match winner are treated as ordinary wins. If the match ends tied and the playing conditions provide an on-field tiebreak (e.g., Super Over), the tiebreak winner will be considered the match winner for this market. If the match ends tied with no tiebreak used or available, no team will be considered to have won the match and the market will resolve to "Draw". If this market's outcome was definitively determined under its rules by the listed resolution sources before abandonment, that outcome will stand. Otherwise, the following no-result provisions apply. If the match is canceled, does not start by Wednesday, November 4, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or is abandoned with no official result by that time, the market will resolve to "Draw". If the match is abandoned or otherwise completed without an official match winner being declared, the market will resolve to "Draw".

Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a ‘vig’ or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while this market allows traders to directly assess the probability of an outcome. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a particular result, the odds on Polymarket may move in the opposite direction. This can create opportunities for informed traders to potentially capitalize on discrepancies between the two.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, indicating growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring, offering a clear and transparent view of market sentiment. The current price reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd participating in this market.
This market resolves around Nov 9, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the officially recorded result of the toss in the Melbourne Stars versus Perth Scorchers match. The winning outcome will be determined by which side wins the toss, as announced by the official match umpires and reported by reliable sports news sources. The final price of shares will then reflect the accuracy of the market’s predictions.
Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Any news regarding potential weather conditions at the match venue, which could affect the toss, might cause shifts in the odds. Additionally, late-breaking information about team form or player availability, even if not directly related to the toss itself, could impact trader sentiment. Finally, large-volume trades by influential participants on Polymarket could also lead to noticeable price movements as others react to their actions.
