Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those offered by traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while prediction markets aim to represent the true probability of an event as assessed by traders. This can lead to discrepancies, with this market potentially offering more favorable odds for certain outcomes. It’s common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbooks in accuracy, as they benefit from the wisdom of the crowd and the ability for traders to adjust their positions based on new information. However, sportsbook odds still provide a valuable benchmark for comparison.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price is entirely driven by supply and demand, meaning it’s a direct expression of collective prediction. The current price reflects the aggregated assessment of all traders participating in this market for the Tadeas vs. Miroslav match.
