Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If many participants believe a sportsbook is undervaluing a particular outcome, they can trade accordingly, driving the prediction market price in that direction. This can lead to prediction markets being more accurate than sportsbooks, especially when there’s strong public disagreement with the initial lines.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and the implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective intelligence of the traders participating in this market for the Tadeas vs. Dvoracek match.
