Description

These markets focus on predicting the outcome of a college football game between Baylor and UCF, specifically analyzing how much one team might outscore the other in the final quarter of play. Each market represents a different point differential threshold that must be exceeded for the outcome to be considered valid.

Kalshi

The markets resolve based on the point differential in the 4th quarter (excluding overtime) of the Baylor vs UCF college football game scheduled for October 30, 2026. For markets where UCF must win by a specified margin (e.g., over 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 6.5, 7.5, or 10.5 points), the market resolves to Yes only if UCF’s 4th-quarter points exceed Baylor’s by more than the stated margin. Conversely, for markets where Baylor must win by a specified margin (e.g., over 2.5, 3.5, 6.5, 7.5, or 10.5 points), the market resolves to Yes only if Baylor’s 4th-quarter points exceed UCF’s by more than the stated margin. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored in the 4th quarter (excluding overtime) count toward these markets.

Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often aligning with but sometimes diverging from traditional sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set initial odds based on their own analysis, while this market’s price is determined by traders expressing their beliefs about the likely outcome. It's common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information, such as injury reports or weather forecasts, than sportsbooks. However, sportsbook odds still represent a significant benchmark for comparison, and discrepancies can present potential arbitrage opportunities for informed traders.

On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that spread occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome, as profitable trades are rewarded. The more traders who believe a particular spread is likely, the higher the price of the corresponding contract will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing mechanism aims to create a market that accurately reflects the collective intelligence of those trading it.

This market resolves around Oct 31, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final point spread of the fourth quarter is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result declared by the governing body of the game. The actual point difference between the Baylor and UCF scores at the end of the fourth quarter will determine which contracts pay out and at what value. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the correct spread will receive a payout, while those holding contracts on incorrect spreads will not.

Several factors could significantly influence the price of this market before it resolves. Key player injuries on either the Baylor or UCF teams would undoubtedly impact the perceived likelihood of different spreads. Unexpected changes in weather conditions, such as heavy rain or strong winds, could also shift the market. Furthermore, any significant news regarding team morale, coaching decisions, or strategic adjustments could cause traders to reassess their predictions. Even late-breaking information about player availability or performance could lead to substantial price movements in this market.
