Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for profit margins, while this market is driven by individuals trading based on their own information and analysis. If the sportsbook odds significantly differ from those implied by this market, it could indicate disagreement about the likely outcome or differing levels of confidence in the teams’ performance. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast probabilities than traditional odds.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the total points scored in the Baylor vs Kansas 3rd quarter. The price of a contract represents the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy contracts predicting a higher score, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price reflects the collective intelligence of all participants, constantly adjusting as new information becomes available and traders update their expectations.
This market resolves around Oct 24, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the total points scored in the third quarter of the Baylor vs Kansas game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final score will be sourced from official game statistics and used to determine which contracts pay out. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the actual total points scored will receive a payout, while those holding contracts predicting a different total will not. The resolution process is designed to be transparent and based on objective data.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Baylor or Kansas would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they affect the teams’ offensive strategies, could also move the market. In-game performance during the first and second quarters, such as a dominant offensive showing by one team, could shift expectations and alter trading activity. Unexpected coaching decisions or changes in game strategy could also contribute to price fluctuations in this market.
