Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of forecasters, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically set odds to maximize profit, factoring in margins and public perception, while this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, analytical approaches, or simply variations in opinion. On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe in an outcome, the higher the share price will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the aggregated intelligence of all traders involved, providing a real-time assessment of the event's likelihood.
