This market focuses on predicting which team’s defensive special teams unit will score the first touchdown in an upcoming professional football game. It includes scenarios where either team's defense scores first, or no touchdown is scored by any player during the game.
The market determines whether the Baltimore Ravens defensive special teams (BAL Ravens D/ST), the Buffalo Bills defensive special teams (BUF Bills D/ST), or neither unit scores the first touchdown in the professional football game scheduled for November 1, 2026. If either defensive special teams unit scores the first touchdown, the corresponding market resolves to Yes. If no touchdowns are scored by any player, including these units, the No Touchdown market resolves to Yes, and all other player-specific markets resolve to No. Special rules address situations where a unit is active but does not take a snap, settling to the fair market price before the game starts. Once a unit takes a snap, the outcome depends solely on whether they score the first touchdown. Touchdowns scored by offensive teams on fake punts or field goals do not count toward these markets.
Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often aligning closely with sportsbook odds but sometimes diverging due to differing information or perspectives. Sportsbooks set their lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market represents the aggregated predictions of many individual traders. It’s common to see initial discrepancies, but as the event approaches, the odds on Kalshi often converge with those offered by sportsbooks, as new information becomes available and traders adjust their positions. However, prediction markets can sometimes offer more favorable odds, especially for less conventional outcomes.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction, meaning traders buy and sell contracts representing different players to score the first touchdown. The price of each contract fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the probability of that player scoring first. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people buy a contract, its price increases, and vice versa. This creates a dynamic market where the odds are constantly updated based on the collective predictions of all participants. The current price indicates the implied probability of each player being the first to score.
This market resolves around Nov 2, 2026, following the conclusion of the Baltimore versus Buffalo game. The outcome will be determined by which player officially scores the first touchdown, as verified against credible public reporting from official game sources. The official NFL game statistics will be used to confirm the result. Any touchdowns scored during overtime will be considered for the purposes of this market. The resolution will be based on the official game record, ensuring a transparent and verifiable outcome for all traders.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. News regarding player injuries to key offensive players for either team would be a major catalyst, shifting probabilities as potential touchdown scorers become unavailable. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if conditions are expected to be unfavorable for passing, could also influence the market. Late-breaking news about team strategies or play-calling tendencies could also move the odds. Finally, significant betting activity on Kalshi itself, driven by new information or shifts in sentiment, will directly impact the price of contracts.
