These markets focus on predicting the outcome of a college football game between Ball St. and Northwestern, specifically analyzing how the fourth quarter unfolds. Each market assesses different point spreads to determine which team will dominate the final period of play.
The markets resolve based on the point differential in the fourth quarter (excluding overtime) of the Ball St. vs Northwestern college football game scheduled for October 10, 2026. For markets where Northwestern wins by a specified margin, the outcome is Yes if Northwestern's fourth-quarter points exceed Ball St.'s by more than the stated threshold. Conversely, for markets where Ball St. wins by a specified margin, the outcome is Yes if Ball St.'s fourth-quarter points exceed Northwestern's by more than the stated threshold. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored during the fourth quarter count toward resolution, and all markets are independent of NCAA affiliation or endorsement.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for a profit margin, whereas this market is driven purely by individuals’ willingness to buy or sell a particular outcome. If a significant number of traders believe the sportsbook line is inaccurate, the price in this market will move accordingly, potentially offering different value than what’s available at a sportsbook. It's a good practice to compare both to inform your decision-making.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders submit bids and asks for contracts representing different point spreads. The price of each contract fluctuates based on supply and demand, reflecting the collective prediction of the crowd. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This means that if more people are buying contracts predicting a certain spread, the price will increase, and vice versa. The current price represents the probability that the actual fourth-quarter spread will fall within that range, as determined by the traders on the exchange.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final fourth-quarter spread of the Ball St. vs Northwestern game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result published by the relevant sports authority. Traders holding contracts on the correct spread will receive a payout of 100 cents per contract, while those holding contracts on incorrect spreads will receive nothing. The market’s resolution is independent of any pre-game predictions or analyses.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Ball St. or Northwestern teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to impact the game’s style of play, could also shift trader sentiment. Furthermore, late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions might lead to adjustments in the predicted spread. Even public perception and betting trends, as reflected in other sources, can contribute to price fluctuations in this market.
