Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven by the collective predictions of individual traders. If a significant disparity exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both a prediction market and a sportsbook. However, it's important to note that prediction markets may incorporate information not readily available to sportsbooks, leading to unique insights.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price reflects the aggregated sentiment of all participants, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event’s likelihood. This differs from fixed-odds betting, as the odds adjust based on supply and demand.

This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Badanin vs. Khyzhnyak match, as determined by the governing sporting body. The platform will verify the result against publicly available and trusted sources to ensure accuracy. Traders who hold shares in the winning outcome will be entitled to a payout, while those holding shares in the losing outcome will forfeit their investment. This process ensures a transparent and objective determination of the market’s outcome.

Several factors could influence this market before Oct 11, 2026. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in training regimes, or unexpected performance in preceding matches could shift trader sentiment. Publicly released analysis from sports commentators or unexpected betting activity in traditional sportsbooks could also impact the price of shares. Furthermore, significant media coverage or social media discussions surrounding the match could sway public opinion and, consequently, the market’s price. Monitoring these signals will be key to understanding potential shifts in the predicted outcome.
