Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd effect, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market is driven purely by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those seen here, it could indicate differing expert opinions or a belief among prediction market traders that the sportsbook is mispricing the event. It's important to note that these are distinct sources of information, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of a particular outcome. As more shares are purchased for one outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share directly corresponds to the probability assigned to that outcome by the market participants, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event’s potential results. This allows for a fluid and responsive pricing system based on collective intelligence.
